The Tuber Borchii grows in zones 7-10 and will grow in pH ranges of 6 - 8. Better productivity and mycorrhizal dominance are consistently linked to the 7.0 range. Preferred soil types are sandy, sandy-loam, and well drained.
Often described as fresh garlic, peppery heat with a mild radish like bite. It has earthy undertones and cheesy notes can appear as they age.
First fruiting commonly begins 3-5 years after planting with the pine tree hosts. Reliable commercial production usually starts between 5-7 years. Each tree produces approximately 1lb in ideal conditions. Keep in mind best results come with companion trees planted 16' x 16' and at least 4 trees is recommended.
In the US market, fresh Tuber Borchii is selling from $700 - $1000 currently.
We certify our trees ensuring they are properly mycorrhized with the Tuber Borchii
